Nature of request
The sick people of the hospital of St Giles of London, request a remedy as the house and its alms are almost destroyed by the brothers of St Lazarus to whom the lord king entrusted the custody of the said house in part payment of a certain debt.1)
Nature of endorsement
Before all the council. And the master of the house is called that he should come with the charter of the king at a day.2) Let a writ be sent to the master of the hospital of St Lazarus that he be at the next parliament to answer upon the contents in the petition.

The petition must date to in or shortly after 1299, as the keeping of the hospital was granted to the friars on 4 April 1299, with a writ following 3 days later (CPR 1292-1301, p.404).
