Nature of request
Gurney requests remedy and that the sheriff of Somerset be made to come and account before the council of the queen because they are not able to have justice because of the sheriff's power. . . The sheriff has destroyed the manors, goods and chattels of the petitioner in Somerset in the manors of Englishcombe, Odwode, and Knowle as appears by a bill made to the king and his council to the great damage of the petitioner and to no advantage of the queen. . .
Nature of endorsement
Concerning the trespass made before the manor came into the hand of the queen, the petitioner should sue at the common law. Concerning the other points of the petition, let the council of the queen be made to come into Chancery and there show and hear the reasons . . . justice be done.
