Note (Additional information about the record)
- The petition probably dates to 1339 as Godard was granted the bailiwick of Holland during good behaviour on 3 November 1339 (CFR 1337-47, p.151). It would seem that the king did not wish to grant the bailiwick for life. There is no evidence of an earlier grant to Godard of the bailiwick of Elloe, but a Simon de Whitton was granted that bailiwick on 17 July 1339 (CFR 1337-47, pp.136-7).
