Description

Margaret Godefeld, widow of Robert de Godefeld.
Name(s)
Godefeld, Margaret
Addressees

Nature of request
Godefeld requests that a remedy be ordained for her, and if it pleases the king and council that they order Vigerous to the Tower of London where he can be kept safely, as he has been imprisoned in Newgate at the suit of Godefeld for the death of her husband, but has been allowed out by the keeper. She also asks that the inquest into her husband's death be held in the Tower for fear of Vigerous' friends and allies in London, Vigerous being born in London, and his friends having menaced Godefeld and her council.
Nature of endorsement
Let it be ordered to the keeper of the prison that he should keep Nicholas just as those who should be imprisoned for the death of people by appeal, not permitting him out of prison under pain that pertains.
