Nature of request
Gubyoun requests that he be discharged of the money loaned to him by Baldok to pay the wages that he had withheld from foot soldiers that he had been commission to raise in Essex. He had received two commissions for foot soldiers to be chosen from each vill in Essex and to lead them to Newcastle, but no provision to pay for the wages of those raised under the second commission had been made. He further requested and that the king ordain from whom and how the money ought to be levied.
Nature of endorsement
Because Baldok is now the chancellor, he should sue before him and put his reasons, and certify the king so that he is able to give his will.Coram domino rege.

The petition must date to 1322 or shortly thereafter as Gubyoun had been commissioned on 16 May 1322 and 8 June 1322 to raise troops and lead them to Newcastle (CPR 1321-4, pp.123-4, 131-2). In addition the endorsement makes mention of Baldok being chancellor, so that it must date to 1323 and after.
