Grymestone requests that the bailiffs of York be taken before the council and put to answer, and a remedy be ordained for when he came to the city of York on business they seized him and imprisoned him without cause, and detained him until he made a fine with them, and made his swear that he would not complain, against the orders of the king. If no remedy is ordained they will continue to ransom all the ministers and servants of the abbey wrongfully and at their will.

Note
The guard comments date this to c. 1334 on the basis of a patent roll entry referring to the dispute between the abbey and city and the pleas relating to this (CPR 1334-8, p.27). It seems likely that Grimstone's discomfiture stems from this dispute.
