- The petitioners seek the reversal of a judgement made against them and the upholding of their customary right (since time without knowledge) to load ships with victuals and other cargo, as confirmed by a judgement in the court of King Henry III, the king's father. Roger Fitz Osbern and the men of Great Yarmouth challenged these customs before Martyn de Pateshull and his fellow justices without giving due warning to the petitioners, and thus obtained a judgment contrary to the petitioners' rights.
