Peter Gardache of Navarre.

Gardache, Peter

Nature of request
The petitioner shows that he served the king's father for many years in the profession of arms in the Scottish wars and was captured by the Scots at the battle of Stirling and paid ransom. The then king appointed the petitioner to serve in the garrison of Berwick in the company of Bernard de Pilegn and spent two years there. Then the petitioner paid his own costs to serve the king in Scotland after which he was appointed keeper of the scales in Southampton for his lifetime, in which capacity he was to receive ten marks per year from Despenser, which he has not received since the parliament of Northampton and he has since been ousted from his post by Mortimer. The petitioner seeks re-appointment and compensation from the king.1)
