Nature of request
The petitioner shows that by the king's letters patent he holds the priory for a farm of £60 per year to the king, to be paid through the then warden or his lieutenant. The petitioner presented his letters to Rider (lieutenant of Calverley the present warden) but they were not accepted, rather a levy was made from the petitioner on his income for the Christmas term lately past and an assignment made on his income from the Easter term to his debtors, to the great distress of the prior and contrary to the terms of the king's patent. Concerning which matters the petitioner seeks a suitable remedy and that a writ ordering certain penalties be sent to the warden and his lieutenant who are to return to the petitioner such goods and rents as were taken from him. The petitioner also requests that the king's letters patent be respected, notwithstanding that he owes great sums of money.
Nature of endorsement
Let him have writ directed to Calverley or his lieutenant in Jersey and Guernsey allowing the petitioner to have use of the letters patent without further charges, and to release to him his beasts, goods, chattels and rents, and to cease molesting him and respect the king's letters patent.
