Nature of request
The petitioners show that they purchased from Stratton ten marks worth of land in Richmond and Waterford (in Bengeo) for 40s each year to Stratton and to have seisin after six years and more, and Stratton was duly paid 40s each year by the petitioners. Then the prior of Bermondsey and the sheriff of Hertford ousted the petitioners by reason of a grant made by the king to the prior of the same lands. The petitioners seek a remedy from the king.1)
