Nature of request
The petitioner states that by order of the king he went to the reduction of Brimpsfield Castle with other gentlemen of the county of Gloucester. John Gifford robbed him of all his goods and moved the petitioner into Gloucester Castle and held him in prison for the duration of his stay in that town. And now his lands have been seized into the king's hands through the malevolent procurement of his adversaries and it is falsely believed that the petitioner held with the king's enemies, which is not the case. The petitioner seeks a remedy from the king and the release of his lands.
