Nature of request
The petitioner states that he was summoned to London by the sheriff of Yorkshire to render his account in the exchequer owing £43 to the sheriff. The petitioner stayed in John de Hakeburn's house in London for safety, in the presence of Stapleton, Lyndeseye and other gentlemen. The sheriff entered Hakeburn's house without warrant and arrested and imprisoned the petitioner, who prays that he can give sufficient surety to the coroner that he may be released from prison. The petitioner seeks the help of the council or other ministers of the king.
Nature of endorsement
He has given good and sufficient bail and is to be held until the feast of St John the Baptist, and then to have a writ to the aforesaid sheriff.
