Description

William de Furnival.
Name(s)
de Furnival, William

Nature of request
The petitioner states that he was bound to the bishop of Durham by indenture in £1000 and as security he enfeoffed certain persons in his lands and tenements in Stokeuerdon, who then re-enfeoffed William and one Thomasine (who the petitioner undertook to marry), which was recorded in writing more than eleven years previously. And now the bishop in his great malice has pursued the implementation of the indenture, alleging that the said enfeoffment was never made and by a coroner's inquest condemned the petitioner to pay and thus ruin him. The petitioner seeks a remedy from the king.
