Nature of request
The petitioner states that he was wrongfully pursued through a writ of trespass in king's bench by Rewe. The writ was returned at Michaelmas 1426 by the sheriff of Somerset and Rewe then brought a writ of capias against the petitioner without licence, by reason of which the petitioner was arrested and imprisoned. He asks that this wrongdoing be considered and a writ despatched to the sheriff of Somerset within two months, and an open proclamation made at Wells that Rewe should appear before the justices on a day specified in order that his deceit should be uncovered by examination. The petitioner seeks damages and that Rewe should be imprisoned for a year without bail.
