Walter Frost and Thomas de Ryse, merchants of Beverley, ask for payment or an assignment for £65 13s. 4d., which is owed to them from a loan, over the fixed custom, made from the wools charged in the port of Kingston upon Hull.

It is to be sent to the Treasurer, Barons and Chamberlains of the Exchequer, that, when they have seen the letters of which the petition, if they find that the debt is still clearly due, then they are to give them payment or allowance as the petition demands, receiving etc. and charging etc.

Dated on the guard to '? c. 1340', with reference to CPR 1338-40 p.407, dated at Ghent, 23 January 1340, and CCR 1339-41 pp.351, dated at Kennington, 12 February 1340, and 423, dated at Shotley, 21 June 1340. None of these is relevant, but they give an idea of when the petitioners were active.
