Description
Petitioners
Richard le Freman (Freeman) of Stanway
Name(s)
Freman (Freeman), Richard
Addressees
King
Nature of request
Richard le Freman states that he previously brought an attaint against the Abbot of Tewkesbury, to convict the jurors in an inquisition held between the Abbot, demandant, and Richard, tenant, concerning a messuage and three bovates of land in Stanway, and because this writ was not drawn up properly, it was considered a non-suit, and he had to make fine to the king. He has now sought another writ of attaint, but is so poor that he cannot make fine to the king, and fears that he will be arrested and imprisoned for this fine at the king's suit: and so he will not be able to sue his writ of attaint. He asks the king to take pity on him and to pardon him the fine, insofar as it concerns him, so that he is able to sue.
Nature of endorsement
He is to surrender himself before the justices where the attaint was arraigned; and the said justices are to be ordered to pardon him his fine because of his poverty.
