Nature of request
Richard le Fremon, who is a poor man, states that he is suing a writ of right concerning a messuage and three virgates of land in Stanway against the Abbot of Tewkesbury, and asks that the plea might be determined by an inquisition of the country, or by grand assize, or that he might be able to defend his right by his own body, as he has nothing with which to find a champion. He also states that he has previously sued an attaint and that the jurors came to terms with him concerning a false oath sworn by them.

Dated on the guard to c. 1333, with reference to SC 8/47/2348, dated to c. 1333 with reference to CCR 1333-7 pp.120-1, dated at Tweedmouth, 16 June 1333, and CPR 1330-4 p.492, dated at Wallingford, 10 January 1334. This petition appears to be from an earlier stage in proceedings.
