Walter de Farrecome and Bernard de la Boghe of Barnstable state that when William Martyn claimed that some wines of theirs, which were in a barge which sunk with all hands between the port of Barnstaple and the town, were wreck, they proved by jury that they were theirs, but William's bailiffs of Fremington refused to compensate them. They request a remedy.
Nature of endorsement
It seems to the council that wreck ought not to be claimed in this case, and therefore he is to sue against William at common law.

Dated on the guard to '? c. 1320' on the basis of the name 'Crosseby' written on the face below the petition, and with reference to CPR 1317-21 p.387, dated at Gosforth, 8 August 1319, and CCR 1318-23 p.152, dated at Gosforth, 6 August 1319, both concerning the payment of £100 by the Abbot of St Mary's, York, to the king's clerk John de Crosseby for the wages of certain Welsh footsoldiers.
