Note
CPR 1317-21 p.565 is dated at Westminster, 20 February 1321, and seems to be the initial permission rather than the inquiry ordered by the endorsement of this petition. C 81/110 no.5295 and the warrant for C 143/139/12 are both dated 8 June 13 Edward II (1320), and concern the inquisition preceding this permission. It is hard to tell whether this petition or SC 8/47/3218 is the earlier: at first glance this one looks earlier, as there is no mention made of their being disturbed in their enclosing of their land: but SC 8/47/2318 makes no mention of permission to enclose, indeed asks for it, and it might be that this is merely a more tactful contemporary petition, making no reference of their previous attempts to enclose their land.
