The Master and brothers of Farley state that Lady Aline Wake gave them various rents by her charter, before the time of King Henry, from tenements in Eston in the parish of Old Warden, and that these tenements afterwards came into their hands by escheat, and were leased by them at farm. The Escheator of Bedfordshire has seized this rent into the king's hand, claiming that it was found before him by inquest that they acquired it from their own lands, held of the king in chief by knight service, after the statute of religious and without permission, and has returned this reason in Chancery. They request a remedy.
