Description
Petitioners
Robert de Fauntiston
Name(s)
de Fauntiston, Robert
Addressees
King and council
Nature of request
Robert de Fauntiston, who was with the Earl of Lancaster at Bedford, states that because he was of the Earl's party, John Wyard and William, Bailiff of Tibberton, entered and occupied all his lands and tenements in Worcestershire without warrant from the king, broke into his houses, carried off his goods and chattels, and abducted John, son and heir of Philip de Ravenesbull, who was in his wardship and whom John Wyard has given into the keeping of the Prior of Worcester. These lands and tenements are in the king's hand. He asks that they may be returned to him, and that those possessions which he can prove before a jury to be his may also be returned without delay.
Nature of endorsement
Certain people are to be appointed to inquire into the things contained in the petition; and, when the inquisition has been returned in Chancery, the Chancellor, on the king's advice, is to do what is reasonably to be done.

Note
The notes on the guard assume that the earl of Lancaster referred to here is Thomas (d. 1322), but the reference to events at Bedford indicates that this in fact refers to Henry (d. 1345), and suggests that the petition dates from around the time of the fall of Mortimer and Isabella in 1330.
