James Fynaunce, born at Metz in the Duchy of Lorraine, who has lived in England for twenty years and intends to live there for the rest of his life, asks that he and his heirs might become denizens.
Nature of endorsement
[One face] Soit baille as seignurs. (It is to be delivered to the lords).[On dorse] It is to be done as he requests: provided that the same James does liege homage to the king, and pays and contributes the customs, subsidies and other dues owed to the king for his merchandise as a foreigner, notwithstanding the present grant.

CPR 1429-36 p.517 is dated at Westminster, 9 May 1436, and states that the letters are 'pursuant to the act of the last Parliament': ie. that of October 1435.
