Nature of request
Adam de Eglesfeld states that while he was in Gascony on the king's service, his kinsman, Thomas de Hothweyt, presented him to the church of Brigham in the Archdeaconry of Richmond, and the king also presented to that church, and a writ of quare impedit concerning the right to patronage of that church was impleaded before the justices of the Bench as far as judgment, but, because the matter touched the king, the justices did not want to proceed to judgment without a writ from him or his council. Time has now passed, and the church will be given to aliens at the octaves of Martinmas if something is not done. He requests that the justices be ordered to proceed to judgment, out of consideration of the service that Adam has given the king and his father, and the fact that he has never received advancement for this.

A writ is to be issued to the justices of the Bench to proceed to judgment etc. according to the law and custom of the king's realm.
