Nature of request
Thomas, Archbishop of York, states that the king has ordered him, by his letter under the privy seal [targe], not to visit in the Archdeaconry of Richmond: he asks the king to repeal this command, as visitation is a purely spiritual matter, and belongs to the franchise of Holy Church.
Nature of endorsement
Coram rege.The Archbishop, who has come before the king through his proctor, is to be summoned at the king's command. And the king, having understood his letter addressed to him, abandons utterly everything contained in those letters, on account of the incorrect command etc.

SC 1/16/64 is dated 14 Kal Feb (19 January) 1301, and quotes the king's letter under the privy seal dated 9 November, 28 Edward I (1300). The parliament mentioned is that which began on 20 January 1301. This petition was probably presented at that parliament.
