Name(s)
de Eure, John
Addressees
King and council
Nature of request
John, son of John de Eure states that he sued an assize of mort d'ancestor after the death of his father concerning the manor of Darras, against Robert Darreyns, tenant of the manor, which was ended by Robert's death; and then he sued another against the then tenant, in which the assize found in his favour, but he could not have his judgment because Robert Darreyns allegedly owed certain debts to the king. Now he has sued a third writ, against William de Kellawe and Isabel his wife, daughter and heir of Robert Darreyns, who have claimed that because of the debt the manor is seized into the king's hand, because of which the justices have stayed proceedings, and although John has sued to have a writ to proceed for two years and more, this has been forbidden him. He requests a writ to take the assize and then to proceed to judgment.
Nature of endorsement
He is to have a writ to the justices appointed to take assizes to take the same assize, provided that they do not proceed to give judgment without advising the king.
