Nature of request
John, son of John de Eure, states that when he sued a writ of mort d'ancestor after the death of his father against William de Kellawe and Isabel his wife, concerning the manor of Darras, they claimed that it had been taken into the king's hand because of a debt which Robert Darreyns, from whom the manor descended to Isabel, owed the king. The justices then ceased proceedings without consulting the king, and John petitioned parliament and had a writ to the justices to take the assize, which found for his right. Nevertheless the justices do not wish to proceed to judgment, and he asks for a writ to them to do so.
Nature of endorsement
A writ is to be sent to the appointed justices that, when they have seen the record an process made on this before them, if they find that the proceedings have been such as the petition supposes, then they are to proceed to judgment and further to do right and reason according to the usage of the realm, notwithstanding the allegation made in this petition.
