Description
Petitioners
Tenants and community of Stafford
Addressees
King and council
Nature of request
The tenants and community of Stafford state that they are maliciously indicted of various trespasses before Thomas de Fournyvall and his companions, as can be seen from the transcript of the indictments sent to Chancery and sewn to this bill. They request a writ to Thomas to send all the indictments concerning them before the king so that due process can be followed on them.
Nature of endorsement
To avoid greater evils than have notoriously been inflicted upon the said parties because of certain dissensions which have arisen between the people of Stafford and other outsiders, it is agreed by the council that all the indictments touching the people of the said town are to be sent into Chancery without delay, and from there before the king. And a writ is to be issued on this to the justices, to have them brought as has been said above, and a writ is also to be issued to the Sheriff to have the bodies of those arrested for this reason brought before the king, so that he has them there at the quinzaine of Easter next.
