Nature of request
Lettice, daughter of Luke le Eschot, states that she had two ships laden with wheat and herring to the value of £700, of her father's gift, in the port of Orford, these ships were attacked, and their cargo carried off, by Austin son of John, Richard son of John, Peter his brother, Austin Joce, William de Sutwolde, John Arnaud, Richard his brother, Alexander Joce, Roger Joce and Richard de Sutwolde, clerk. She brought her complaint about this before Solomon de Roffa and his companions, justices lately in eyre at Ipswich, and the suit was adjourned . . . before the king's council by a writ of Chancery brought by Austin and the others. She asks that she might be heard now.

Dated on the guard to c. 1287, with reference to Solomon de Roffa at Ipswich (citing CPR 1281-92 pp.279, 329, which mention him as being lately in eyre in Suffolk, and are dated at Westminster, 12 October 1287 and at Clarendon, 11 November 1289 respectively).
