Nature of request
Thomas de Ergum states that Isabel de Forte, Countess of Aumale, gave a messuage, a toft and three bovates of land in Preston in Holderness to Odinel de Eregum and Christina his wife, his father and mother, and to the heirs of their bodies, and that they were seised of these tenements for twenty years until Thomas de Normanvyle, escheator of the king's father, expelled them and seized the tenements into the king's hand, without calling them to answer. He requests a writ to inquire into his right as their son and heir, and to give him restitution and grace according to what the inquest finds.
Nature of endorsement
He is to sue in Chancery to have the inquisitions returned in Chancery after the death of Isabel de Forz examined, to see if anything concerning the aforesaid lands and tenements can be found in them. And he is likewise to have a writ to the king's Treasurer and Chamberlains to examine the accounts of Thomas de Normanvyle, to see if the same Thomas charged himself with the issues of the aforesaid lands and tenements, and from what time, and also if any charters or deeds or muniments touching the king's estate and right in the aforesaid lands and tenements can be found.
