Richard Elys and Thomas Dengayn, who collected the subsidy on wools and woolfells granted in the parliament held at Westminster in the first year of the king's reign at Great Yarmouth state that they were overcharged in their account by the sum of £41 13 s. 4 d. for the subsidy on 25 sacks of Scottish wool seized at sea. They ask the commons to ask the king and lords to grant a writ of the privy seal to the Treasurer and Barons of the Exchequer to discharge them of this sum.

Dated on the guard to 'c. 1423, ref. 1st year (prob. of Hen. VI) The petitioners were appointed collectors of the subsidy in Great Yarmouth in 9 Henry V (CPR 1416-22 p.392, dated at Westminster, 25 July 1421), and Richard Elys was appointed controller of customs in Great Yarmouth on 14 September 1428 (CPR 1422-9 p.501).
