- The Bishop of Ely states that Roger le Bygod, late Earl of Norfolk and Marshal of England, held various lands in Suffolk of him and his church, by the services of six knights' fees, which lands are now in the king's hand because of the earl's death. The Bishop defends these fees, and his others, against the king to give him service in war in all the ways that belong to such fees. He asks the king to allow him these services, and to ordain in such a way that the Bishop's church is not disinherited of the fees.
