Nature of request
John de Ereswell states that he was taken and imprisoned by John, Prior of Ely and William le Boteler, and held in prison for two and a half years, and that twelve writs were sued to the Sheriff and Coroners of Cambridgeshire to replevy him, returned that he was no longer in their bailiwick, having been removed from it by the Prior. The king issued a writ to attach the Prior, which was sued for two years, until the quinzaine of Easter in the sixth year of the present king's reign, when it was extinguished. John de Ereswell, who is ready to sue for the king, asks that the record and process might be brought before the council so that the suit can be revived.
