Nature of request
The merchants show that they shipped wool to trade in Flanders in times of peace but it has been seized and detained by the count and his ministers to their great impoverishment. They request remedy.
Nature of endorsement
Coram rege et magno consilio.Let certain men be assigned to enquire by oaths of merchants and of others if the arrest was made as the petition supposes, when the inquisition is returned if it is found that the petition is truthful then if the sea passage be closed as it is now, then they should have arrests on the countrymen, the arrest not extending to merchandises and goods of men resident in England, or of their free tenements; and if the passage is open, then they should sue by the ancient course.
