The petitioners state that they had brought a writ in the Eyre of Hertfordshire against Oliver Jerberd, concerning an acre and a half of meadow in Thorley, but that Oliver's name was changed in the writ for that of Henry Gerrard; who did not appear when summoned. And when judgment should have been given for the petitioners, before Solomon de Rofecestre and his companions, a letter was brought stating that Henry was in prison, and so could not acquire or lose any land. Solomon de Rofecestre promised to inquire into whether Henry was in prison or not, but through favour to Henry has not done this.
