Nature of request
The Prior and convent of Drax complain that, although they pay the tithes from their church as from a spiritual place, the collectors of the thirtieth are attempting to levy this tax from them; for which they request a remedy.
Nature of endorsement
[On face] John Biron and John Elot, assessors and collectors of the thirtieth in the West Riding of Yorkshire are to be written to.[On dorse] The assessors are to cease [their levy] on the corn which they have in the name of tithe, as having been tithed, but the assessors are to proceed with the things that come from their lay fee.
