Nature of request
Louis, Bishop of Durham, states that, because of an agreement made between Walter de Selby and Robert Dunframvile, Earl of Angus, Ralph de Greystok and John de Eure, concerning the surrender of Mitford castle, an agreement which Walter believed would give him the peace of the king's father, a writ has been sent to him instructing him to deliver to Walter all his lands and tenements in his franchise, which he had previously seized because of Walter's adherence to the Scots. He believes that this writ, of which a transcript is attached to this petition, is contrary to law, and asks that no such writ be used to his prejudice.
