Nature of request
Adekyn de Donecastre states that the High Master of the Hospital of St John of Jerusalem ordered the Prior of the Hospital of St John of Jerusalem at Clerkenwell by his bull to let Adam have his sustenance there, which bull Adam delivered to the Prior: but he cannot have either his sustenance or the return of the bull. He requests a remedy.

People mentioned

the Prior of the Hospital of St John of Jerusalem at Clerkenwell
Note
Dated on the guard to '? c. 1327 -? c. 1340' with reference to CPR 1338-40 p.475, which is dated at Westminster, 2 May 1340, and to CCR 1337-9 p.445, dated at Northampton, 26 July 1338. It is however by no means certain that Adam de Donecaster, keeper of the king's horses, is the same person as the petitioner, although if he were, this would presumably date this petition from between July 1338, when he still seems to be in active work, and his death before May 1340. The wider date range offered on the guard is proposed here.
