Nature of request
Destefuild requests protection for him and his companions to enjoy their goods and to sue the right of the king, and that an inquisition be ordered by trustworthy justices into the matters complained of in the petition. Destefuild has sued for the king, himself and the people of the Isle that the Isles should be in the king's hand and Grandison be put out for his misdeeds and those of his ministers. He has been put out of his house and being attacked in London at parliament despite being in the king's protection.1)
Nature of endorsement
He should have protection for prosecuting the king's and his business for one year. This has been expedited.2) It is ordered to the bailiffs of Grandison that if the land and tenements, goods and chattels of the petitioner were taken into the hand of the king without cause and against the custom of those parts then he should be restored, and if there is an underlying cause whereby it shouldn't be restored then the king should be certified.

The petition makes mention of the parliament in Michaelmas 13 Edward II making this 1320.CPR 1317-21 p.515 is dated 28 October 1320, but grants protection for three years rather than the one specified in the endorsement.
