SC 8/42/2062
Date
[c. 1332]
Description
Petitioners
Bishop of St Davids.
Addressees
King
Occupation
Bishop of St Davids
Nature of request
The bishop requests that the king grant him leave to give a church, lands and tenements to the value of £30 to found a chantry of six poor chaplains to pray for the ancestors of the king and of the bishop and for all Christians.1)
Nature of endorsement
Coram rege et magno consilio.2) Let him come before the chancellor and the treasurer and make a fine.3) It pleases the king, for a fine.
0-34, p.238).
Note
The petition probably dates to c. 1332 as a licence was issued to Bishop Henry to grant rents to 6 chaplains on 27 January 1332. It seems that the licence requested in the petition is a little earlier than this licence (CPR 1330-34, p.238).
