[1334-1338]
Description
Petitioners
William Danvers, son of Thomas Danvers.
Name(s)
Danvers, William
Addressees
King
Nature of request
Danvers requests the king's will. Mortimer was bound to him in a rent to be taken annually from Mortimer's lands and tenements at Newbury by the hand of the bailiff of Stratfield Mortimer for the term of Danvers' life, [until he advanced him in marriage]. He had received the rent until the escheator, after the death of Mortimer, seized Mortimer's lands and tenements into the king's hand. Danvers sued, and it was ordered that the matter should be enquired into . . . and the treasurer and chamberlains of the Exchequer at the order of the king certified in Chancery that Danvers had not quitclaimed the rent to the king.
Nature of endorsement
Let the process with the certification to this petition be ordered to the justices holding the pleas of the king, and having called the sergeants of the king, and heard their arguments, there is further to be done what is to be done.
Places mentioned

People mentioned
Roger de Mortymer (Mortimer), Lord of Wigmore.
Note
The petition dates to the period 1334-1338 as the matters seems to range over these dates as entries in the patent and close rolls attest. None of the entries suggest that they result from this particular petition (CPR 1334-8, pp.568-70; CCR 1333-7, pp.212, 428).
