The petition must date to c. 1331 for Ralph de Neville was ordered to take the office into the king's hand on 18 July 1331, and a commission of oyer and terminer into alleged trespasses, wastes and excesses was issued on 20 July 1331 (CFR 1327-37, pp.268-9; CPR 1330-4, p.200). The petition must postdate these.
