Nature of request
The petitioners state that they have been destroyed by the Scots, and that the people of the country have had pity on their poor state and wish to give them lands. They request the king's agreement to purchase £20 of land or of rent from other fees.1)
Nature of endorsement
They should have a licence to acquire 10 marks by the grace of the king towards their impoverishment and destruction, the land not being held from the king, and that it is found by inquisition that it is not to the king's damage.2) Coram rege et magno consilio.
