Nature of request
The burgesses state that they were assigned to make a balinger of 40-50 oars before the 1 March next. They have not made it as they have no experience of such things in their country and request that the council will receive a reasonable fine from them for the boat to be paid at a reasonable day, with a warrant to collect the sum in the town from those with goods valued £20 and above.
Nature of endorsement
Let a commission be made under the great seal to levy £80 for the balinger.
