Nature of request
Courtenay shows that he has sued for a long time for his right in the Isle of Wight and Christchurch. At the last parliament at Lincoln during the time of the king's father he was adjourned before the king's council at Westminster at the quinzene of Easter next following when a writing of Isabel de Forz granting and quitclaiming the same to which Courtenay requested an advisement to the next parliament. There Courtenay showed by bill that the writing could not be that of his de Forz ancestor. He requests that the writing be enquired of, and if it is found not to be by de Forz, and that she died seised, then the lands be rendered to him as his right.1)
Nature of endorsement
It was previously said to Courtenay that he ought to sue before the council, and that he would have justice on this matter, and therefore he is to sue if he wishes.2) Coram rege.
