Nature of request
The canon shows that the king's ancestors granted to the mother church and the prebendary lands, tenements, messuages, rents and other manner of possessions, and it has continued in seisin. The Beltofts and other malefactors ejected the canon from his possessions and took them away to the great damage and the disinheritance of the mother church. He is unable to have remedy by the common law to maintain the right of his prebendary for fear of death. He requests remedy to maintain the right of his church and the estate of the king.
