Description
Petitioners
Roger de Chaundos (Chandos).
Name(s)
de Chaundos (Chandos), Roger
Addressees
King and council
Nature of request
Chaundos requests remedy as Walsh held land of the king in Huish Champflower from the king in chief, and land in Putton from Chaundos and his wife and the king has claimed the keeping of the lands in Putton by reason of his prerogative. Chaundos states that the lands of Huish Champflower are not held of the Crown, but Queen Eleanor purchased the lordship so that the king should not have the keeping, but a confusion in the identification of Huish has caused it to remain in the king's keeping.
Nature of endorsement
Let certain people be assigned to enquire of this matter by a writ ordered to the escheator, and when the inquisition has been returned into Chancery let justice be done.
