Nature of request
Compton shows that he is a tenant of a moiety of the vill of Keinton, and that this was once held by William Mandeville for which he ought to find 2 men to follow the tithe and tithingman of Barton to be with him at his making of presentments at the hundred of Catsash. Mandeville enfranchised his neifs of the vill who used to follow the tithingmen of Barton. Compton was enfeoffed of a moiety of the vill and in all his time has not found the men. Now he is distrained to find the men although the neifs were enfranchised and the tithingman ought to sue them. He requests remedy.
Nature of endorsement
If he was distrained by the bailiff of the king, he should claim it from him by a writ of replevin the distraint if he wishes, or he should prosecute before the treasurer and barons of the Exchequer, and they should be ordered to summon the bailiff before them to do justice to Compton concerning the debt.
