Prior and convent of Our Lady of Carlisle.

Nature of request
The petitioners state that they are ruined by the Scottish war and the accidental burning of their house, and that they are bound to the king in a sum for victuals that the king instructed the prior's predecessor to receive, and which they used during the war to sustain themselves. They request that it be granted to them that this debt be fixed at 100s. per annum, and if it is levied otherwise they will not be able to maintain their church without great mischief.1)
Nature of endorsement
Coram rege et magno consilio.2) Let them have respite until Michaelmas next and meanwhile let them come before the king to have grace.
