Nature of request
Calne requests a safe conduct to bring a carrack from Genoa to England to discharge and sell its cargo at any port except London that pleases the king, and to buy wool and other goods and return to Genoa paying costs and subsidies at the staple of Calais.
Nature of endorsement
The council assent to this safe conduct to be made under the great seal on the condition that they only take the goods to the port of Genoa.

The petition dates to 1378 as the letters of protection were issued on 6 November 1378 (CPR 1377-81, p.283). Letters of safe conduct were also issued on 12 January 1379 (C 76/63 m.8).
