Full description and record details

Reference
SC 8/40/1951
Date
[c. 1360]
Description
Petitioners
Edmund de Cornewall (Cornwall), late sheriff of Lincoln.
Name(s)
de Cornewall (Cornwall), Edmund
Addressees
King and council.
Places mentioned
Nicoll (Lincolnshire)
Westminster.
Nature of request
1) Cornewall requests that it is granted to him to have averment as other sheriffs in the past have had for ancient farms of bailiffs which are still not able to be levied and that he be quit of the remaining charge. 2) Reciting a response made in parliament to an earlier petition on the same matter by the same petitioner and the ensuing writ to the treasurer and barons of the Exchequer Cornewall requests remedy as the treasurer and barons did not wish to do anything.
Nature of endorsement
Coram rege.
Note
The petition dates to c. 1360. The petition recites a writ of 18 February 1360, and it makes clear that the writ was in response to an earlier petition to parliament. The original petition must have been presented to the November parliament held at Westminster in 1359, so it would seem likely that if this petition was also submitted to parliament that it would have been submitted in the March or May parliaments of 1360, or possibly the January parliament of 1361.
